Yeah I know, most people know, however, up until minutes ago, I knew nothing, but I now know most!
So, a simple tutorial to explain each map type to the newbs:


Cs Map - (4) Hostage rescue map; Counter-Terrorists try to rescue 4 hostages from Terrorist hold and escort them back to the rescue zone. Hostages should be placed near terrorist spawn. Rescue zone should be far from hostages (It is usually placed near the Counter-Terrorist Spawn).

De Map - Bomb defuse map; 1 terrorist starts with the bomb and tries to plant and defend the bomb at a bombsite. CTs try to stop initial planting, or defuse a planted bomb. Usually 2 bomb sites. Chokepoints are critical to gameplay here. CTs should be far from both bomb sites.

As Map - Assassination map; 1 CT starts as a VIP with 200 armour and must be escorted by the other CTs to a helicopter or APC, Ts try to kill VIP. Ts should be placed mid-way to the safety point for the most challenging scenario.

Es Map - Escape map; Ts flee from CTs to the escape zone. This map type really isn't ever played, so no point in really explaining it more.

Fy Map - Team deathmatch map; respawnable weapons are placed on the ground at each teams start point.

Aim Map - Team deathmatch map; Same as Fy but the number of guns is limited and often little ammo is provided, obviously to try and increase your aim.

Awp Map - Sniper map; Deathmatch with only the AWP Sniper Rifle as a primary weapon, and no buy zones.

He Map - Heavy Explosives map; Same as Awp, but with Heavy Explosive grenades replacing the Sniper rifle.


And thats all that I know.

I have a few additions to the defuse map description.

Defusemaps (de_)
CT's should not be far from both bombsites. But they should have to move quickly if they want to cover the other bombsite. In other words, one bombsite should be reached verry fast (A in de_dust/de_dust2/de_aztec/de_slap) and one should be reached at the same time for both CT and T (B in de_dust/de_dust2/de_aztec/de_slap). Usually CT's and T have a change to shoot at each other right before bombsite B, this opens up for different strategies. Do CT wan't to cover the bombsite, or do they want to kill some Ts and see if they can conquer the bombsite after or while the remaining of the Ts are/have planting/planted the bomb.

only cs, de, as and es have ever been real counter-strike maps, the rest is something that anyone may define as they like.

yea. and then theres the specific weapon type maps. like awp_city or fms_garden (thats my map. Famas Garden)

every thing else than cs,de and as should be destroyed and forgotten fy, aim, ect. is a scandale for cstrike wich destroys the game play!

and i allways thought that they are those jump maps. and kz is just the shorter version of the creators name.

dont know. why would they? if there is ka already why would they invent another one? i think its just for the kz jump maps.

it also was untill beta 7.1 I think ... maybe they skipped it earlyer, cant recall
