How to make pipes, part 1 by Iceman
Hi again kids, do you know what time it is? It's tutorial time :)
This time we will learn how to make pipes. The easy way first offcourse.
There are some nice looking pipe textures in the Half-Life.wad (that's located in your /Half-life/Valve folder) file and those are:
-
gen- some good dark pipe colours
-
silo- a good rusty one
-
pipe- not very good but usable.
I'll use the one under silo for this guide. Let's begin now shall we?
Step 1: The Begining Start with making a pipe in your own size. I can't tell you how big or how small it shall be, just make a pipe with a nice pipe texture. Choose Cylinder, and then choose 10 sides (it will make the pipe look round)
Step 2: Makeing the Pipe the proper size I've allready made a room for my pipe and i guess that you also have one... Now drag your pipe across your room and it will look somethinng like this
Step 3: Cloning the pipe That was simple wasn't it? Yeah it's finished, that one, but i guess that you want to learn how to make the pipe turn too. just keep reading! Make another pipe half the size of the long pipe, (or not, up to you). Now clone the new pipe (using the hold shift+drag method) and it will look something like this:

Step 4: How to make the pipe turn Now shall i show you how to make the pipe turn. Put the other pipe in the end of the short one, and rotate it, while you are rotating hold the shift key down to make sure that the pipe will go absolutly straight in the rotate. Now it will look something like this:

Step 5: The finetuneing The only thing we got left in this guide is to cut the pipes so the ends will fit eachother. Press Shift+x to get the clipping tool, select one of the pipes first and cut it as the picture below shows:

Now do the exact same thing with the other pipe and then you're set.
Step 6: The result Now it will look something like this, and your room is done. It now have one straight pipe and one pipe that turns. It will look something like the image below:
