In this guide I will show you how to build a small but still playable de_map (defuse map). It will not be a map with alot of details, just the fact that it's a de_map will do for this time..
Hmm... shall we begin then? Hope you are ready for this.. (and remember the guide are not for elite mappers ofcourse, just for the people that want to learn how to make a de_map and are not sure about how to make one... Errhh Gibberish, let's continue.. We shall create 3 rooms, and two corridors, and I suggest that we start creating the rooms first..
Step 1
Choose a nice wall texture (in my choice it were BABTECH_WALL01A) and create a brush 128 units height and something like 256 x 256 as width x length.
Right click on your brush and click on Hollow. Type in -16 for this room this wil make the walls hollow outwards.
Step 2
Mark your hollowed "box" and hold shift (the key above Ctrl) down and move the box around a bit from the other one, "release" the box and now you got two identic boxes. Mark one of them and do the same thing again, and now you got three identic boxes as the picture shows
Step 3
Now go inside each and one of your hollowed boxes and put a texture for the roof, and one for the floor. (I used TNNL_FLR7C for the floor and OUT_PAVE1 for the roof) and it will look somthing like this inside one of you boxes (rooms).
Step 4
The picture below shows how i have putted my "layout" for the map. Now we'll insert some spawn points for counter-terrorists and terrorists
Step 5
Put 5 info_player_deathmatch (terrorists) from the entity list that appear when you press Shift+E (or press the "light"bulb" in the tools meny) where you want your terrorists to spawn, then to the exactly same thing with the info_player_start (counter-terrorists), just put them where you want them to spawn. Now your map will look something as the picture below..
